Organica1
Project Info
Visual identity and trifold pamphlet design for Organica1, a fictional annual exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto, ON. The project focused on building an exhibition identity, printed collateral, and a cohesive duotone visual system inspired by organic forms, natural textures, and contemporary art.
Project Details
The exhibition concept centres on contemporary artwork shaped by patterns found in nature, including coral structures, fish scales, mushroom gills, cellular forms, and other organic systems. The identity needed to feel connected to the natural world without becoming overly predictable.
The logo was inspired by the indigo milk cap mushroom, using an abstract twisted form built from repeating linework. The mark suggests movement, growth, and natural rhythm while staying flexible enough to function across the exhibition system. Paired with a narrow, modern wordmark, the identity balances organic imagery with a more controlled typographic structure.
The trifold pamphlet extends the visual language through duotone photography, circular image crops, textured backgrounds, and structured editorial layouts. The blue and green palette keeps the system tied to the natural references while giving each panel enough variation to avoid feeling static. Typography, spacing, and image placement are used to organize the exhibition information across the fold system, keeping the printed piece functional while still visually connected to the concept.
The final direction combines identity design, editorial layout, and print collateral into a cohesive exhibition system that feels calm, organic, and contemporary.
