Glowfair
Project Info
Visual identity refresh for Glowfair Festival, an Ottawa block party and music festival that transforms Bank Street into a multi-block event built around music, lights, art, and nightlife. The project focused on updating the festival wordmark, developing a light-inspired logo, and creating a flexible identity system for signage, banners, merchandise, and digital touchpoints.
Project Details
The identity is built around the festival’s central visual cue: light. A custom filament mark was developed from the form of a light bulb filament, creating a recognizable symbol that connects directly to the Glowfair name while keeping the mark specific to the festival’s light-based identity.
The wordmark uses rounded typography, layered outlines, and a pink-to-blue colour treatment to suggest neon signage and nighttime event energy. Paired with black, white, purple, cyan, and magenta, the system creates a high-contrast visual language suited to outdoor signage and promotional materials.
The brand system was applied across large-format and small-format touchpoints, including vertical signage, event banners, merchandise, and handheld promotional items. The layout system keeps the identity consistent while allowing the logo, colour palette, and supporting graphics to shift across different formats.
The final direction gives Glowfair a brighter and more recognizable event identity, tying the festival’s music, light, and art positioning into a system that can function across street-level environments, as well as digital promotions.
